When it comes to Mental Health treatment, Confidential Care is one of the best kept secrets in Northwest Indiana. A couple of years back I was looking for an adolescent psychiatrist. I called several of the psychiatrists provided by the insurance company, and the soonest appointment I could find was 3 months out. I wish at the time I had known about Confidential Care. Dr. Vijay is a board certified adolescent psychiatrist who takes her time to get to know the adolescents, and prescribes medication conservatively. This means parents who send their adolescents to see Dr. Vijay, do not have to worry about them becoming "zombies." Dr. Vijay monitors her adolescent patients closely by having a licensed therapist stay in frequent contact with their parents, individual therapists, and school counselors. Dr. Vijay also oversees an Intensive Outpatient Group for adolescents, through which she provides medication management several times a week. I recently started working with Dr. Vijay professionally, and so far, I have been impressed with her expertise and sound clinical judgment. While it is true there may be a bit of a wait when coming to see Dr. Vijay, her patients can rest assured that when it is their turn, she will take the time to answer any questions or concerns they may have about their treatment. Dr. Vijay is an expert at differential and dual diagnosis. When a new patient comes to see Dr. Vijay, they are often sent with an initial diagnosis or clinical impression from their referring physician. If it seems like Dr. Vijay is asking questions like the ones you have been asked by other physicians, or asking the same question several different ways, please understand that is a part of the diagnosis differentiating process. After all, having an accurate diagnosis is an essential to ensuring you receive the right mental health treatment. What I find most refreshing about working with Dr. Vijay, is her candor and integrity. Dr. Vijay is not one to beat around the bush. If a patient appears to be malingering, or drug seeking, she will promptly discharge them from the facility. This is one example of how Dr. Vijay puts her professional values over profit margins, which is admirable. Dr. Vijay would never allow a pharmaceutical company to offer any form of bribe or kickback, as such activities are not only unethical, but illegal. Furthermore, Confidential Care is regularly reviewed by the Council of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), to ensure the care being provided is evidenced based, and consistent with industry standards. If your adolescent is experiencing a mental health crisis, I would highly recommend my colleague, Dr. Vijay, at Confidential Care.

I have been referring patients to Confidential Care now for a little over a year. As a mental health practitioner, I have been impressed with the program Confidential Care has to offer. Dr. Vijay, is a board certified adolescent psychiatrist. Dr. SJay specializes in addictions. In addition to providing ongoing medication management, Confidential Care has Intensive Support Groups for adults, and adolescents struggling with mental illness, which reduces the need for inpatient hospitalizations. They also provide an ambulatory detox program, which allows my patients to receive all the benefits of an inpatient rehab program, in an outpatient setting. I often receive updates as to my patients progress, which is helpful when providing concurrent services. Most of my patients are able to receive a new patient evaluation within 2 weeks of being referred, and the facility has an on call 24-7 crisis line to help manage psychiatric emergencies. I would highly recommend Confidential Care to anybody who is looking for high quality psychiatric services.

My daughter was referred to Confidential Care for issues surrounding being bullied at school. We met with Dr. Vijay, who recommended my daughter attend a support group for teenagers. At first it was difficult to commit to bringing her three times a week, but the change my wife and I have seen in our daughter has been well worth the sacrifice.
